Deepsea Technologies, Inc. has developed and patented a system for insulating subsea flowline connectors and other subsea equipment.
The insulation shroud consists of an ROV installable clamp which houses a custom shaped bag. The clamp is installed on the subsea component and the bag is filled with an insulating medium (liquid or gel) using an ROV hot stab.
Once the bag is pressurized, it completely covers the area to be insulated and due to the positive pressure and contact with the surface of the subsea component, it prevents convective heat loss.
This insulation system offers significant cost savings over traditional ‘dog-house’ style insulating systems with superior performance.
